Black/brown Ash

The focus of my work has always been process oriented.  Whether working with black/brown ash, plaiting sculptural basketry forms or working with beads, stitching sculptural basketry forms, it is the process that pulls my full attention.

It only took one class, one shared with my only sister Joyce, who lives 1000 miles from me, to launch a new investigation of the creative process.  Beads offer a playground of choices and inspiration, a fantasyland to dream and to wonder and to improvise.  The beads, with their myriad colors and shapes and sizes make individual impressions and come together to energize, to strengthen and to conceptualize.  Stitch by stitch, bead by bead, single needle right angle weaving, I am soothed by the directional stitching and excited by the unexpected combinations.  Staying mindful reduces unstitching, exhilarates the moment and offers the opportunity to learn as I work..
